Vithèque, the pioneering video on-demand platform launched in 2010 and designed and operated in Quebec by Vidéographe, is continuing to evolve and to make independent video more accessible.
Quebecois platform Vithèque, which hosts one of the largest collections of Canadian video art, is now offering an individual monthly subscription. Subscribers will now have access to more than 2,000 titles for just $7.99 per month.

All forms of independent video-making are represented, including animation, fiction, documentary and experimental video. The site brings together works by leading, as well as emerging, artists from Quebec, Canada, and beyond, such as Pierre Falardeau, Robert Morin, Anne Émond, Pierre Hébert, Sylvie Laliberté and Nathalie Bujold, to name but a few.
The collection also comprises works of historic and cultural interest with videos that bear witness to key events in contemporary Quebec, such as the workers’ movement, the October Crisis, the women’s movement, counter-culture, and LGBTQ2+ affirmation. Some thirty new titles are added each year. In addition, Vithèque offers curated programs, historical and critical essays, and resources for research into the history of video.
A portion of the revenue generated by Vithèque is paid to artists.
