Amélie Brindamour | CQAM / Milieux Residency 2019

The Conseil québécois des arts médiatiques (CQAM) and Milieux, Institute for Arts, Culture and Technology of Concordia University are proud to announce that artist Amélie Brindamour has won the residency at Milieux. The residency will take place in the fall of 2019.

The artist will take advantage of the residency at the research centre Milieux to conduct various experimentations in the Biolab related to biomaterials, more specifically looking closer to slime mold’s capacity to grow networks, as well as exploring the diverse possibilities of building sculptural elements with molded mycelium. The results will be integrated to a prototype including a lighting electronic circuit, and be part of a new body of work called Bearer of Light / Feux follets. This project will focus on the phenomena of bioluminescence in fungi and other living creatures, and offer a reflection on alternative forms of communication that are not language-based.
