OBORO is an artist-run centre whose research, production, dissemination and training activities encompass media, digital and visual arts. Reporting to the General and Artistic Director, and working in close collaboration with all members of the team, the Programming Coordinator is in charge of coordinating the centre’s artist residencies, exhibitions, events, and cultural mediation projects, all the while participating in OBORO’s overall activities.
Specific tasks include:
• Participation in programming committees
• General planning of the centre’s programming activities: exhibitions, residencies, special activities, cultural mediation, talks and collaborations (with the support of the team)
• Participation in the management of project budgets
• Drafting contracts with artists and coproduction agreements
• Managing and supervising artists’ travel and the transportation of materials
• Coordinating the installation of exhibitions as well as spaces for residences
• Providing support for the installation of exhibitions, if necessary
• Receiving artists and offering general assistance
• Coordinating the documentation of activities
• Being present during the centre’s activities
• Participating in the writing of grant applications, reports and statistical tables
• Transmitting relevant information to Communications staff and other members of the team
• Representing the organization during partner activities
Required skills and qualifications:
• Minimum of two years’ experience in coordinating or managing projects in the cultural sector
• Capacity to organize and communicate information effectively
• Excellent ability to manage priorities and schedules
• Capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Computer skills: Mac environment, ability to work with spreadsheets
• Bilingualism (the working language is French; fluency in written and spoken English is essential)
• Reliable, friendly, communicative and punctual person, who enjoys working with the public, with artists, and as a team
• Conscientious person, who shows attention to detail
• Essential: knowledge of the artistic sector and an understanding of artist-run culture
Position details:
• 24 hours per week, with occasional activities on evenings and weekends
• Starting date: end of January 2020
