𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲
EiS is an open source software allowing the integration of various contents into an immersive scenography. It does not require any specific knowledge apart from an interest in the creation of immersive scenes and virtual reality. Any form of audio/video/2D/3D content creation is welcome.

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
In this one-day workshop presented in collaboration with Eastern Bloc, participants will learn how to use EiS (Edition in Situ) software to create a prototype scene in an immersive audio-visual installation. Bring your video resources, models, images, and sounds!
The workshop uses open-source software developed by the Metalab of SAT that covers the entire spectrum of immersive content production: video mapping (Splash), spatialized sound (SATIE), and immersive in situ editing (EiS). The workshop will be mainly given using the EiS platform, a creation tool that allows the editing of 3D content in an immersive environment.
This training is realized with the financial contribution of the Quebec government.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲?
It’s a physical space whose surfaces surrounding the viewers are used for projection. A single coherent image is projected and gives the illusion of being transported into another space, a new (virtual) reality.

Free/open-source licenses such as EiS guarantee access to the software’s source code and thus give users the assurance that they remain in control of their creations, promoting the durability of the content. Creators have control over the content and the container without being bound to a user license, which is advantageous for the independence and durability of digital artists’ works.

Note that this training is part of the programming of three workshops on immersive scenography with Metalab’s open-source tools, as part of a partnership between Eastern Bloc and the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT).

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗜 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻?
After successfully completing the training, you will be able to :
-Create an immersive video scene ;
-Learn from the development and deployment of an immersive installation with open source tools, in a group setting;
-Independently create a simple immersive artwork;
-Use skills related to the creation of immersive scenographies that you will have developed;
-Add to your skills in new technologies as a tool for artistic or disciplinary creation;
-Understand examples of concrete applications in the artistic field, in order to discover the maximum possibilities offered by immersive scenography technologies in various artistic, cultural, and scientific sectors.
