Deadline: April, 19th 2021

About Caravansérail

Caravansérail Artist-Run Centre supports research and experimentation in contemporary visuel arts and is dedicated to the dissemination and promotion of emerging artists and practices in Bas-Saint-Laurent (QC). It invests in the professionalization of emerging artists and is involved in advancing the career of its members. Sensitive to the heterogeneity of audiences, the Centre works to democratize contemporary art.

Project Description

Supported by the permanent team of Caravansérail, the project manager coordinate the Insulars’s Banquets, a nine day event presenting happenings and activities with the aim of breaking the isolation of those who suffer from it. The main mandate of the chosen person will be to support nine artists representing a minority reality — coming from the four corners of the country — in the preparation and organization of their happenings taking place in Rimouski (QC) in May 2022. With the project partners, the person will plan a series of complementary activities reaching various audiences.

By « representatives of a minority reality », we mean people who identify themselves to a community facing an asymmetry of power and representation. Among others, this includes people who consider themselves as Indigenous, racialized, visible minorities, disabled and/or a part of LGBTQ+ community.
