Artexte Information Centre, the Conseil québécois des arts médiatiques, the Regroupement des arts interdisciplinaires du Québec and the Regroupement des centres d’artistes autogérés du Québec are partnering to organize a series of Wikipedia contribution events between January and May 2020.
The formula
These convivial events are both a pretext to get together and a means of showcasing the practices, artists and organizations of the contemporary arts ecosystem, as well as the Artexte collections.
The Contemporary Arts X Wiki Workshops take place at Artexte every last Thursday of the month. Participants have access to Artexte’s collection, which includes documentation on the visual arts from 1965 to the present, with a particular focus on Canadian and Quebec practices. Contributors who wish to participate virtually are also encouraged to do so!
Representatives from Artexte and the CQAM, RAIQ and RCAAQ will be there to guide those who need a helping hand and to have a chat with you between contributions.
Everyone interested in Quebec and Canadian arts and the Wikimedia Foundation’s projects is welcome: artists, cultural workers, researchers, amateurs of contemporary arts, and curious people! In addition, people under-represented in Wikipedia, especially women, people from LGBTQ2S+ communities and people from Indigenous, ethnocultural or racialized communities are encouraged to participate!
