The workshop given by Philippe Beaulieu, CPA auditor, CA will address several issues related to taxation and self-employed cultural workers. At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the different administrative structures relating to an artist;
  • Distinguish the different legal forms for exercising the profession of artist;
  • Know the particularities of the tax status of artists and self-employed workers;
  • Know the main deductible expenses;
  • Learn about the importance of books and records;
  • Differentiate between a deduction and a tax credit;
  • Know the deadlines for filing the tax return.

INSTRUCTOR

Philippe Beaulieu, CPA auditor, CA has been a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec since 2004. He started his own art management firm offering, among other things, coaching and administrative support to artists as well as tax advice for artists and cultural workers. Philippe founded Vitrines sur la relève, an NPO dedicated to the promotion of emerging artists. He is also a lecturer at the École de comptabilité de l’Université Laval and a lecturer at the Department of Management Sciences of the Université du Québec à Rimouski, Campus de Lévis.
