CQAM RESIDENCIES – CALL FOR APPLICANTS

Once again this year, we are delighted with our renewed partnerships and to launch a simultaneous online call for applications with only one deadline for the three residencies: April 1, 2019 !

Whether with the Montreal companies Turbulent and VYV or with Concordia University’s interdisciplinary research institute Milieux, each residency allows the artist or group of professional artists selected by a jury to obtain a four-week research and creation space. In addition to having access to the residency partner’s premises and equipment, the artist or collective can count on the support of qualified technicians selected according to the project to be carried out. For a total of 200 hours of support, he can thus deepen his artistic approach in a new way, inspired by the experience and specialities of the company or institute.

Important note: once the residency is completed, the artist or collective remains the owner of all rights to the project submitted as well as to the final result. In return for this artistic exploration, the partner benefits from ideas and ways of doing things to nurture its development. On both sides, the participants are the winners of this unique exchange and opportunity.

We thank our residency partners and wish all candidates the best of luck!

The 4th CQAM-TURBULENT Residency allows a professional artist or a professional artistic collective in digital arts to complete a four-week production residency within the Turbulent company.

During the residency, Turbulent provides its human resources, premises and equipment for a total of 200 hours of support. The selected artist or collective will thus be able to deepen their creative process in a new way around the company’s specialities: development of software, Web applications or Internet platforms. Whether to produce a prototype or finalize a work, it will have access to the most recent technologies in the industry while relying on the support of qualified developers selected according to the technological specificities of the project.
Thanks to the support of the Conseil des arts de Montréal, Résidence CQAM-TURBULENT is endowed with a $4,000 grant paid to the artist or collective.

Established in 2018, the CQAM-MILIEUX Residence allows an artist or a digital arts collective to deepen or diversify their practice through a commitment to a community of interdisciplinary researchers working in the various research-creation clusters of the Milieux Institute for Arts, Culture and Technology at Concordia University (Milieux).

In addition to providing free access to its many facilities and installations, Milieux will offer the artist or collective in residence mentors from faculty members, artists and researchers attached to clusters relevant to its project. This collaboration allows for a fruitful exchange and creative process between artists, researchers and institutions while making possible the development of new avenues of knowledge and practice in the digital arts.

The CQAM-MILIEUX Residence pays a fee to the artist.
