What happens to sound art, audio art and sound installation which is deployed in multiple disciplines and constantly develops new tools to infiltrate new fields of research and creation?
In this workshop, we will look at recent history, current trends and particularly at the potential future of sound art.
Sound art is more present than ever in contemporary art biennials, public spaces, festivals and international exhibitions. it appears in many varied forms of performance, installation, sculpture, video or robotics.
What are the strategies, protocols and technologies implemented by artists working with sound and/or thinking their works through sound? What are the remanent and persistent traces that haunt artists’ practices in sound art and what types of experiences do they probe? What do these current sound art practices teach us about our relationship with the world, about the current issues that preoccupy the artists? Can we build a new type of collaborative creativity by listening in a collective and interdisciplinary way?
Through the diversity and multiplicity of points of view and hearing points of our guests, we will be guided by our ears, listening to the practices in sound arts from the recent past and the present and to the tracks of reflection and action that they induce for the near future.
These sessions will be accompanied by bibliographies and links prepared by the guests as well as a selection of audio works to listen in a fitted listening room.
