Artistic Direction
Reporting to the General Management, the Artistic Direction is responsible for the development, realization, management and the quality of the artistic activities initiated by DAÏMÔN. The Artistic Direction draws up and implements programming of artistic residencies and other relevant events and projects. The Artistic Direction is responsible for maintaining and deepening the dialogue and reflection on contemporary media arts. The Artistic Direction is also responsible for ensuring the continued inclusion of DAÏMÔN members and media artists from the Outaouais region and elsewhere (in Canada and internationally).
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Articulate an artistic vision linked to DAÏMÔN’s mandate. This vision must be informed by General Management and must be placed in the context of social and cultural changes which have an impact on DAÏMÔN’s activities;
- Prepare and follow up with artists in residence, artists giving workshops and / or various programs, projects and special events;
- Organize the calls for projects for the annual program of residencies and artistic events initiated by DAÏMÔN, organize juries and coordinate the relating communications;
- Draft various grant applications and activity reports related to the artistic activities of the Center;
- As an official representative of DAÏMÔN, maintain a network of contacts and ensure good relations with galleries, artist-run centers and other institutions;
- Promote and represent the organization and its artistic activities to the various institutions and organizations;
- Organize at least one off-programming special event every two years (symposia, residences, special exhibitions, festivals, or other events related to media arts).
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to manage the development of artistic projects;
- Sense of organization and responsibilities;
- Sense of time management and priorities, management of several projects at the same time;
- Ability to analyze and solve problems;
- Sense of leadership, interpersonal skills and ease with teamwork;
- Versatility, autonomy, rigor;
- Communication skills, including proficiency in both written and oral French as well as a very good knowledge of English;
- Sensitivity to the work of artists, their strategies, their reflections, and the issues related to media arts and contemporary art.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of the media and digital arts milieu in Canada and internationally;
- Knowledge of the operating rules of non-profit organization;
- Financial management.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in writing grant applications.
CONDITIONS
- Regular employment, annual contract;
- Part time | 21 hours – flexible hours (possibility of having to work evenings and weekends, depending on the center’s activities)
- $ 24 / hour
